As a result of the combination of the digital age and technology, huge computers that were once worth millions of dollars can now even fit into people’s pockets. Also much cheaper. Combined the world with the Internet. No one could have predicted that the journey through digitalized information would arrive here but now the world has become a huge sphere of communication. Every year, internet users and smartphone owners increase logarithmically and the world gets smaller.
The communication system was dominated by the email system, and then the Whatsapp application, which offers a faster communication method, became the center of current communication. As the business community adopted these two communication tools and the communication accelerated, the efficiency of the content decreased and thus communication problems arose. In the digital age, people have difficulty adapting to change because communication speeds have increased logarithmically and continue to increase, but people continue to develop in a linear way.
Not reading e-mail, not understanding or misinterpreting e-mail has become a growing problem. Although we are in the age of digitization, words do not have the ability to fully express individuals. The language’s use features, highlights, and senses of humour cannot be understood in the email or Whatsapp application. Because of this, the language of emoji entered human life. Individuals could tell themselves better when situations, emotions, and thoughts were transferred to the other side with emojis.
In the use of email, emails are still very misunderstood because their use of them is not still common in emails and each individual has a different writing style, level of knowledge, and a different perspective, emails are still too susceptible to misinterpretation. Therefore, particular care must be taken when communicating via e-mail. While many important issues are lost in growing mail groups, on the other hand, misunderstood emails both cause lower quality of communication and cause much bigger problems.
It is clear that the communication of the digital age will be fast. Individuals need to educate themselves in accordance with these new methods of communication and accelerated internet connection. In this age, everyone must be a digital communicator. They should understand the necessity for individuals to express themselves in the right way and that what they understand from communication must be the same as the other party. Most importantly, if there is any doubt, it is necessary to turn to face-to-face communication. Even if face-to-face communication is a difficult method, it is the most efficient type of communication and so will it in the future.
